Program Manager, Medication Abortion Access

The manager of the Medication Abortion Access Program will provide administrative and programmatic support for the integration of full-spectrum sexual and reproductive health services with a specific emphasis on medication abortion and early pregnancy loss in diverse health settings in California and nationwide. The Program Manager will provide input into the strategic direction and growth of the Medication Abortion Access Program. Responsibilities include management of multiple projects and partnerships; regular communication with key stakeholders; assistance with grant monitoring, reporting, and program evaluation; and supervision of project interns as needed.

The position can be based in either our Berkeley or Los Angeles office. This a hybrid remote/in-office work schedule. The salary for this position is 70-80k.

Description of Duties
  • Manage daily operations of the Medication Abortion Access Program from coordination and documentation of training, to technical assistance, and capacity-building efforts.
  • Guide effective implementation systems and processes to ensure project goals and objectives are met with the highest quality.
  • Alongside the Senior Director and trainers, assist in updating or creating tools and resources to support the implementation of sexual and reproductive health services into primary care practice.
  • Assist the Senior Director and evaluation team with evaluation activities, including designing data collection instruments, conducting interviews with site staff and key stakeholders, administering surveys, writing manuscripts and reports, and ensuring that project deliverables are met.
  • Plan workshops, convening and program meetings with diverse primary care and sexual and reproductive health audiences, including providers, advocates, administrators, and health center leaders.
  • Support the Senior Director in outreach and recruitment efforts to engage health centers for participation in MAB Access Program activities.
  • Assist in grant writing and contract development to pursue funding opportunities to support MAB Access Program.
  • Manage interns as appropriate.
  • Provide high-level guidance and information to Senior Director and other leadership, including regular reports and updates on progress toward meeting program goals.
  • Coordinate and write timely project narratives.
  • Participate in coalitions and other advocacy and organizing activities to ensure efforts to expand access to sexual and reproductive health care, specifically abortion services, meet the needs of primary care settings.
  • Support and maintain the vision, mission, and goals of Essential Access Health. 
  • Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders and prepares reports as needed.
  • Additional duties, as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.

  • Master’s Degree in human services/public health/public or business administration; will consider Bachelor’s Degree with strong, related experience.  Strong project management skills, with minimum 4 years of experience managing sexual and reproductive health projects.
  • Experience working in or with health centers, especially sexual and reproductive health clinics, FQHCs and/or Title X-funded clinics. Interest in working at the intersections between primary care and sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice communities.
  • Takes initiative and is motivated to explore solutions instead of waiting for directions. Detail-oriented, patient, highly organized, follows through on all responsibilities, and communicates concerns and challenges if they arise. Is responsive and works quickly and collaboratively.
  • Effective problem-solving, analytic and negotiating skills.
  • Must demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and initiative; highly organized and with the ability to achieve systematic delivery under deadline.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively; superb time management skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work autonomously as needed.
  • Must possess comfort with change; must possess agility to adapt to and lead through change.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills necessary to develop cooperative and effective working relationships.
  • Experience in data analysis, report writing, and oral presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft computer (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • A strong commitment to reproductive justice and expanding access to abortion services
