Los Angeles, CA – Essential Access Health Co-CEO Amy Moy has been appointed by California Governor Gavin Newsom to serve on the Protect Access to Health Care Act Stakeholder Advisory Committee established through Proposition 35. The measure, approved by California voters last November with 67.9% voting in favor, directed existing funding streams from Managed Care Organizations to bolster the Medi-Cal system and expand access to essential health services for enrollees, including family planning, abortion, and primary care. Medi-Cal is the largest source of health coverage in the state and served nearly 15 million Californians last year.

The Stakeholder Advisory Committee is tasked with providing guidance to ensure that Proposition 35 is implemented consistent with its intended goals. As an appointed member, Moy will contribute her extensive expertise, commitment to reproductive and health equity, and the unique perspective of a diverse and robust statewide network of more than 400 clinics and health centers that Essential Access Health supports through the distribution of state and federal funding to enhance the delivery of comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care for patients with lower incomes.

“Voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 35 because they understood the important role Medi-Cal plays in the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities across California. Effective implementation will be critical to ensuring that resources are maximized and current programs and systems are strengthened to meet the needs of the millions who rely on Medi-Cal and Medi-Cal providers for care,” said Moy. “The stable, consistent investments in the Medi-Cal program that Proposition 35 establishes will protect and expand pathways to birth control, abortion care, and other vital services, taking us one step closer to ensuring that everyone, everywhere can access the time-sensitive sexual and reproductive health care they want and need in their local communities. I am deeply honored to be appointed by Governor Newsom to serve on this important Committee.”
