Youth Programs Manager
The Youth Programs Manager plays a vital role within the Youth Programs Team at Essential Access Health (Essential Access), which focuses on enhancing sexual and reproductive health outcomes for young people. This role involves overseeing specific programs, expanding the scope of existing initiatives, and contributing to new programs. The manager will collaborate closely with the Youth Outreach + Engagement Coordinator and supervise interns and program participants, ensuring the effective implementation and expansion of impactful initiatives aimed at young people.
The salary for this position is $80k. This position can be based in the either organization's Los Angeles or Berkeley office, with a hybrid remote/in-office.
- Manage local and statewide youth programming for TeenSource, including TeenSource.org website, TeenSource Tips text messaging program, the TeenSource Youth Advisory Board (YAB), and Youth CARE (Care, Autonomy, Reproductive Justice, Education)
- Lead the TeenSource YAB, to engage them in developing and reviewing content for adolescent targeted programs and facilitate continuous youth / parent feedback as part of program evaluation activities
- Partner with youth to expand youth-informed and youth-written content on TeenSource website and social media platforms
- Oversee internship programs, including recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of program interns to support youth health activities • Supervise youth interns and program participants
- Incorporate DEI best practices into recruitment, training, and supervision to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for all interns and program participants
- Advance Essential Access Health’s online and text-based program portfolio by keeping updated on new, innovative digital technologies and strategically integrating advancements into Essential Access Health’s youth health strategies to increase reach and impact
- Diversify program content and delivery methods to reduce health disparities and ensure equitable access to sexual and reproductive health resources for all youth, particularly those from historically underserved communities
- Implement a program evaluation strategy that includes website metrics, surveys, and other evaluation techniques • Manage key partnerships with external organizations and other stakeholders
- Support with program budgets and related sub-contracts
- Assist with communication with funders and report programmatic success and status in compliance with funder requirements
- Promote Essential Access Health’s visibility and programs through presentations and participation at key national, statewide and regional conferences and meetings and publish best practices, toolkits, and papers in conjunction with program staff and partners

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job:
- Masters degree in public health, or three years equivalent experience working in community health promotion settings
- Experience managing public health programs focused on youth/adolescents, project management and program budgets
- In-depth knowledge of digital technologies and innovations trending among adolescent populations
- Experience working directly with youth
- Knowledge of youth sexual and reproductive health topics and trends
- Understanding of current state policies related to youth sexual and reproductive health
- Experience in public health needs assessments, program evaluations and focus groups
- Understanding and interest in social determinants of health and Reproductive Justice

- Competence in Microsoft Word for Windows, Outlook, and Excel. Applicants must be tech savvy, skilled in graphic design and have experience managing online platforms and analyzing web metrics
- Experience with managing organizational public health interventions using social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
- Excellent written, public speaking and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Excellent organizational skills and adept at working on multiple projects
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
A current California Driver’s License, current registration and current automobile insurance coverage is required if you drive on company business.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear.
