Essential Access Health Requests Full Court Reconsideration of the 9th Circuit Panel Title X Decision
Today, Essential Access Health asked the full 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider a 9th Circuit en banc panel decision released in February that upheld the Trump administration’s Title X regulations. Essential Access Health joined a petition filed yesterday by The National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association and the State of Washington.
Statement by Julie Rabinovitz, President + CEO, Essential Access Health
“Now more than ever, we are committed to ensuring that the millions of patients served by Title X are able to get the essential services they want, when they need them. We cannot allow the federal government to establish a two-tiered health system that dictates a lower standard of care for low-income patients.
“The panel decision issued earlier this year disregarded Supreme Court precedent and prematurely ruled on the merits of the case without review of the full administrative record.
“The facts are clear. The regulations conflict with current law and medical ethics standards, and deny women complete and unbiased information about their pregnancy options.
“The regulations have also devastated the Title X family planning safety-net nationwide - disproportionately impacting underserved and rural areas, and communities of color.
“This is no time to put politics over public health.
“We will fight to the end to protect Title X’s mandate to provide comprehensive family planning services for all, for generations to come.”
